Sew Gorgeous Home and Loft Clearing

Sew Gorgeous arrived for the weekend yesterday evening and I have the day off today to do all our jobs.

Hurray!

I have been sew excited all week waiting for her to arrive. I won't be managing to get much bogging done as we have plans...

The plan is to sort the loft and reduce the amount by at least 50% I have no idea how we're going to manage it. There is sew much up there from nearly 20 years of  storing. There is going to be some reminiscing I'm sure.

This is the end of day one and we have trashed the house! Are filthy but having great fun. Both bins are full and there is a huge pile for the tip, a similar pile for the charity shop and the loft is looking significantly emptier. Still a lot to do but we have made progress.

Sew Gorgeous is now relaxing and making a couple of valentines cards - one for Tom and one for a swapbot swap. It is sew nice to have her home and doing things together.

We have compared current swaps - mine is a 'Moore Teesha Moore Patches' swap which I have just finished and packaged ready for posting on Monday. I obviously can't picture them yet until they arrived at their destination but will post them when I get feedback. I have made 3 patches for two people. Sew Gorgeous cleverly suggested that I make 2 of everything in case I didn't want to part with any! She was sew right! I have really enjoyed making them and can imagine that they could become addictive!

Hers is a make me smile swap which I'm sure her partner will love. She's glad she came home so she could raid the stash here.

Tomorrow we have to collect a load of boxes, paper and tape from the removal company, visit the tip, the charity shop. Have dinner with NannyBake and then we're off to a Viennese music evening with dancing at Harrogate Royal Hall which will be a lovely relaxing evening after another busy day.

I expect we'll manage to do a bit more work on the loft on Sunday too. Sew Gorgeous has to leave about 6.00 pm on Sunday evening so I am planning a long soak in the bath to recover!

"Its meeeee SewGorgeous!! I don't ever want to go back to uni...think I'll stay..."

Sneaky Snow Update

Well what Glorious morning.

Bright sunshine and lots of snow.

It obviously continued overnight and we now have 6-8".

I guess with the sunshine it won't last long although it is about -1 outside.

There are tiny footprints all around the edge of the patio and garden where Treacle has tried to avoid it all.

She's currently in front of fire having a good wash.  I don't believe I have introduce her properly yet. Maybe in my next post depending on what I find during my day.

It is definitely a day for staying indoors

and doing some packing. No doubt my next few posts will involve some hidden treasures I unearth.

Sneaky Snow

I was going to bed. But have just peeped out of the window and saw all this!!

Now when I came home from work all the snow from earlier in the week had just about all gone

And at 6-7pm it wasn't snowing when I was making dinner

So all this has arrived in the last 2-3 hours when I wasn't looking!

The photos aren't brilliant I'm afraid as its dark outside

and I've had to take them though the window

but it looks like we've had about 4-5".

Sew I just had to record them here.

I'll try and take a few more in the morning just in case we get some more to see how much has fallen overnight.

SewGorgeous will be wanting to compare our snowfall - if she has any, that is. I'm not sure if she is in Glasgow or Cumbria this weekend.

It doesn't look like I'll be going anywhere tomorrow so it will be on with the sorting of cupboards and drawers.

I've Been a Bit Busy - It's My Birthday!

Well this has been a busy week. It was my birthday on Wednesday and I haven't really been in much since. Saw NannyBake, as I think she should now be called (aka Mum) after work on Wednesday for a very nice dinner of lamb cutlets and all the trimmings followed by apple and the leftover cranberry sauce I made at Christmas, pie.  It was delicious I have to say; tart with a hint of the orange and spices that I put in it. Great way of using it up. Must remember for next year.

SewGorgeous sewed this beautiful birthday card for me. I plan to have it framed and hung in my new craft room ,wherever that will be, and had left this tantalisingly wrapped up for me when she went back to university a couple of weeks ago. You can imagine my amazement when I unwrapped it, isn't it beautiful?

Thursday I headed over to my friend Sarahs in the snow - yes we've had snow and it so pretty right now - for another delicious dinner of chicken, mushroom & leek pie with a puff pastry crust followed by lemon tart. Had a lovely catch up and good conversation etc. as we hadn't seen each other for a while.

She very generously gave me this absolutely beautiful clutch bag.

SewGorgeous can drool all she likes - ITS MINE!!! :)

Then yesterday I was over at Gill & Davids for the most amazing slow cooked sirloin of beef in red wine, garlic etc. that just fell apart. I really will have to get this recipe from them. For dessert we had chocolate fondants which brought the conversation to a halt due to their yumminess. Lots more snow and a very slow drive home.

I am blessed with extremely thoughtful friends and their gift was truly stunning. The sentiment on the drinks coaster "People walk through our lives but only true friends leave footsteps in our hearts" is reciprocated. I also I think this will also be heading for my new craft room.

Well today is Saturday and I think I may need to have fasting day or just a little toast & Marmite.  I'm feeling rather over eaten after all that fabulous entertaining I've had the last few days. My thanks to all of my hosts for the amazing cooking, gifts and entertaining conversation we shared.

There is about 2-3 inches of snow now and more on the way apparently  It looks very pretty and all the neighbours children are out playing & squealing having fun.

Moving - Did I Really Make All This Stuff!

Sadly I lost my Dad in May 2012.  Mum & I have decided to sell up both our houses and join forces.

I have just received an offer on my house which has pushed me to record many of my projects before they have to go into store. I will be moving into Mums bungalow until hers sells so crafting may have to take a bit of a rest as I can't move ALL my stuff into her house, just a small collection to keep me going and only small makes. I guess I'll be making the Christmas stocking fillers early this year!will

What will follow over the next few days and weeks as I get packed up will be a record of some of my makes during teaching, things I've made for fun and various things that I've made for SewGorgeous over the years.  As I dust them off, and lovingly pack them away I'll photograph them and try and link them to patterns, if /as I find them.  They will be stored until we find a wonderful new home to display them all in.

I'm really quite excited about it all! At least it's great excuse for a de-clutter and sort out.

Wool - A Sheeps Worth

This wasn't what I had planned on posting today.
However I popped out for a bit of fresh air at lunchtime and had a meander around a couple of charity shops and just couldn't walk away from this lot:

What a bargain for £5.50
It was stuffed into 5 little bags sew I had no idea what I had until I got it home this evening for a gloat.
Everything including vintage Fuzzy-Wuzzy Angora in a 1/2oz ball, 4ply fingering, Rowan 4 ply cotton, sparkly green fluffy stuff and regular wool/acrylic double knit & 4 ply WOW Can't wait to get started on something.  It will be great for all those little makes like toys, stocking fillers etc.

SewGorgeous is going to be sew jealous! She may well be on the phone very soon begging for some to go in the post to Glasgow.
